A COUNTRY IN SURPLUS

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucagorlero/1785657200/

According to the Government Expenditure and Revenues in Scotland (Gers) report:

Scotland's public finances are in surplus for the third year in a row, if North Sea oil revenues are taken into account.

Scotland would prosper says report

Scotland was £219m in surplus for 2007-8.

Scotland's Finance Secretary John Swinney said: "Scotland has been in current budget surplus now for three years, to the tune of almost £2.3bn.

"The Gers figures confirm that Scotland stands on a firm financial footing - firmer than the UK as a whole - and that full fiscal autonomy and independence hold out the prospect of a flourishing and economically successful Scotland.

"To illustrate, in family budget terms, Scotland's current account is in surplus, while the UK is in overdraft.

"This represents the reality of Scotland's budget position, based on the official figures.

"The figures show more than £7bn of North Sea revenue from Scottish waters flowing into the UK Treasury in the last financial year and that figure is likely to be some £12bn next year emphasising the strength of Scotland's fiscal position."

The London Government is forecasting net borrowing of £175bn in the current 2009/10 financial year – but economists believe even this unprecedented sum could prove an undershoot.

BANKER SIR FRED GOODWIN IS COUSIN TO A TOP GANGSTER

.
Goodwin.

On 7 June 2009, the Sunday Mail revealed that shamed banker Sir Fred Goodwin is a Scots gangster's cousin

Sir Fred Goodwin, former boss of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), is a cousin of 'one of Scotland’s most feared gangsters', 'ruthless crime kingpin' Grant Mackintosh.

The pair grew up less than a mile apart in Paisley, in Scotland.

Goodwin presided over the loss of £24.1billion while running RBS – the biggest loss in British corporate history.

Mackintosh’s uncle Archie was Goodwin’s grandad, making the pair cousins.

Mackintosh has been 'a leading figure in Scotland’s criminal underworld' for 25 years.

He is a convicted drugs baron and was at one time the biggest cannabis distributor in the country.

Mackintosh was a suspect in the gangland execution of John Hall and David McIntosh who were found dead in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, in 2001.

During Goodwin’s tenure, RBS became the world’s fifth-largest bank, and Goodwin became very rich indeed.

The notorious Ferguslie Park, in Paisley, where Goodwin grew up. (ukhousing.wikia.com/wiki/Ferguslie_P)

Sir Fred Goodwin was chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) from 2001 to 2008.

His mother was of German Jewish heritage. (Fred Goodwin - Wikipedia)

After University, he joined accountants Touche Ross.

Reportedly, Touche Ross has had links to the CIA (Cached)

Goodwin, while working for Touche Ross, was chief operating officer of the worldwide liquidation of BCCI, Bank of Credit and Commerce International, in 1990.

The BCCI was called the CIA’s money-laundering facility. (Bank of Credit and Commerce International - Wikipedia.)

According to an article at Wikipedia:

"RBS has been involved in an increasing number of environmental and human rights controversies since Sir Fred Goodwin took the helm in 2001.

"RBS is heavily involved in financing large oil, gas and mining projects world-wide that environmental organizations like BankTrack, PLATFORM , Pacific Environment, The Cornerhouse, and Rainforest Action Network call 'dodgy deals' that they say severely damage the environment and local communities, and that contribute significantly to climate change.

"A profile by BankTrack tracks RBS financing of corporations involved in the
production of uranium weapons, as well as the controversial Baku-T’blisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline transecting Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, the Sakhalin II oil and gas scheme in eastern Russia, the Freeport McMoRan mine in Indonesia, Sinopec oil and gas in Burma, the Dynegy coal fired power plant and mountaintop removal coal mining in the US." - Fred Goodwin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sir Fred Goodwin has been a regular visitor to his friend, UK prime minister Gordon Brown. "Goodwin is one of a small handful of City grandees that the Chancellor relies on to give him advice." (Profile: Sir Fred Goodwin - Telegraph)

Could Sir Fred have had links to the wrong sort of people?

What about the other directors of Royal Bank of scotland?

Child Abuse Suspected

Recently we learnt that, in Scotland, as many as 40 'care workers' were involved in abusing children at a school for vulnerable youngsters, called Kerelaw Residential Unit. ('Up to 40 staff' abused ...)

According to a report published on 29 May 2009, more than 100 children have ‘died while in the care of Scots councils since 2000’

How could more than 100 children die in local authority care within such a short period?

Some of the children had ailments such as muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and childhood cancers.

Between 2006 and 2008, the number of deaths recorded was 29.

7 of these deaths were due to suicide or acts described as being of "undetermined intent".

4 deaths were due to road accidents.

1 death was due to murder.

Quarriers Homes, Nazareth House and St Ninians in Scotland

In 2007, an independent report for the Scottish government found that there has been massive child abuse in Scottish care homes. (Scotland’s shame )

The Herald, 23 November 2007, provides the details (‘These are the voices that need to be heard’) :

"When she was nine - or thereabouts - she (Elizabeth McWilliams) was raped by the man Quarriers called her house father. 'He took his chance,' she said matter-of-factly.

"Some children complained of abuse. That had consequences. 'Boys,' she said. 'Well, they were hung up on door hangers and their penises tied to doorhandles.'"

Quarriers Homes is a Christian community.

Helen Holland was sent to Nazareth House in Kilmarnock, a children's home run by nuns.

At Nazareth House Helen was raped by a priest.

"When she was eight, a nun pulled a hood over her head to help a priest rape her. The sexual abuse went on for three years until, aged 11, she fell pregnant. The same nun kicked her in the stomach until she miscarried."

She was 'beaten to a pulp' by a nun.

There was abuse at many other homes (The landmark cases: abuse in children's homes )

At St Ninians: "In 2003 Michael Murphy, 69, formerly known as Brother Benedict, a monk with the de la Salle order, was jailed for two years on ten charges of physical abuse during the 1960s, including torturing pupils with an electric shock device, force-feeding them vomit and whipping them with knotted boot laces."
