The Rankin Family: Gillean Mo Run

Reportedly, in 1957, the CIA and MI6 used the Muslim Brotherhood to destabilize Syria and assassinate its nationalist leaders (see Jean Shaoul, CIA-MI6 planned to assassinate Syrian leaders in 1957).

Reportedly, the CIA and MI6 used the Muslim Brotherhood to topple Iranian leader Mohammed Mossadegh and later the Shah. (World Prout Assembly: Abdullah Azzam and the Omissions of Neocon ... / aangirfan: The use of the Muslim Brotherhood by MI6 and the CIA.)

Reportedly, the CIA and MI6 want to keep certain countries weak and easy to control.

In other words, the CIA and MI6 oppose 'nationalism'.

Reportedly, the CIA and MI6 promote the idea of an Islamic Caliphate in order to weaken nationalism in countries such as Egypt.

Reportedly, the CIA and MI6 use the Muslim Brotherhood to promote the idea of a global Islamic Caliphate.

In June 2008, a new Muslim group called the Scottish Islamic Foundation was launched in Edinburgh. (New Muslim Brotherhood Front? Islam ...)

The leading members of the Scottish Islamic Foundation are closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Osama Saeed is the chief executive of the Scottish Islamic Foundation.

Osama Saeed has worked as a researcher for Alex Salmond and is to be the SNP's candidate for Glasgow Central in the next general election.

Saeed was once a spokesman for the Muslim Association of Britain, the British version of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Scottish government has given £400,000 to the Scottish Islamic Foundation.

Is it possible that Osama Saeed, the Scottish Islamic Foundation and the Muslim Brotherhood are all secretly working to destabilise the Scottish National Party and prevent Scotland from becoming independent?

Private Eye, 19 September 2008, has a story suggesting the Osama Saeed business may eventually damage the reputation of the Scottish National Party and its leader Alex Salmond.

Private Eye has long had links to the British security services.

Darien, HBOS and Robert Peston

Scottish and Newcastle

Some suspect there is a conspiracy to undermine the Scottish economy and prevent Scotland from becoming independent.

1. Scotland has enormous oil wealth and it pays its own way.

The London government and the London media have repeatedly lied about this.

aangirfan: Scotland pays its own way / aangirfan: SCOTTISH OIL RESERVES EXCEED ESTIMATES

2. In 2003, the Herald newspaper, based in Scotland, was taken over by the American company Gannett (Newsquest).

Since then the editorial staff has been cut from 186 to 113.

In July 2008, the editor of the Herald newspaper, left his job.

Today's Herald is full of anti-Scottish and pro-American propaganda.

The media can block out the truth

3. In 2001, Scottish Provident was taken over by the English Abbey National.

4. In 2007, Scottish Power was taken over by Spanish company Iberdrola

5. In 2007, Scottish and Newcastle Breweries was taken over by Carlsberg.

6. In 2008, it was announced that Halifax - Bank of Scotland was to be taken over by the English Lloyds TSB.

Scottish Colony

One of the biggest setbacks for the Scottish economy came just before Scotland lost its independence in 1707.

Scotland's Darien Scheme involved the setting up of a Scottish colony on the Isthmus of Panama in the hope of trading with both the East and the West. (the same principle later led to the building of the Panama Canal.)

The English Government did everything it could to make the scheme fail.

English investors withdrew their money.

English ships were forbidden to help the colonists.

Robert Peston, who is Jewish, is a friend of Gordon Brown. (Cached)

In 2005, Peston wrote a biography of Gordon Brown. In 2005 Peston became BBC Business Editor.

"It is believed that Peston has used the relationship then built up with Brown for many of his later financial news story 'scoops' at the BBC." (Robert Peston - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

According to The Mail on Sunday, 21 September 2008, speculators made a £190million profit from HBOS shares in the two minutes of trading immediately before news of HBOS's rescue was made public by Robert Peston.

Before Peston's 9am broadcast, HBOS shares had dipped to a low of 88p.

In the hour after Peston's broadcast, the price rose to 215p, giving the speculators huge instant profits.

In two deals between 8.57pm and 8.58pm, buyers bought more than 20million HBOS shares at 96p.

There is a suspicion of a leak of information to the speculators.

Keith Skeoch, chief executive of Standard Life Investments, said: 'Someone was in possession of information and that information was leaked which caused a movement in HBOS's share price."

There is speculation over who leaked the news of Lloyds TSB's takeover bid to Mr Peston.

Was a certain group plotting the downfall of Bank of Scotland (HBOS)?

Soros, Manning, Blank and the Bank of Scotland

Sir David Manning is on the board of Lloyds Halifax, which now includes what used to be Halifax - Bank of Scotland (HBOS).

Manning, who is Jewish, was HM ambassador to Israel between 1995 and 1998, foreign policy adviser to Blair from 2001 to 2003 and HM ambassador to the USA from 2003 to 2007.

On 31 July the Times disclosed that Sir David Manning was in the United States on 9 11.

The Guardian described Manning as Britain's 'national security adviser' ". The BBC said that Manning was "head of the cabinet office defence and overseas secretariat" and was already "well known and respected in the White House".

Sir Victor Blank is the chairman of Lloyds Halifax which now includes what used to be the Bank of Scotland (HBOS).

Blank is the first Jew to chair a major UK clearing bank, Lloyds Halifax.

Blank is involved with the Labour Friends of Israel and is a governor of Tel Aviv University.

He is a promoter of business links between the UK and Israel. (Cached)

Blank is a member of the Jewish Leadership Council, which promotes Jewish interests.

Other members of the Jewish leadership Council include: Sir Ronald Cohen, Lord Janner and Lord Levy.

Blank was chairman of UJS (Union of Jewish Students) Hillel, an organisation which supports Jewish students.

Reportedly, the Union of Jewish Students is a zionist organization. (Cached)

Blank is a former Director of The Royal Bank of Scotland.

On 15 September 2008, Gordon Brown discussed HBOS with Sir Victor Blank.

In 1997, banks got into difficulty in Asia.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad thought he knew who was behind it all: George Soros, Jewish currency trader. (MAHATHIR VS. SOROS)

In 1992, the UK had the crisis of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.

The Bank of England was forced to abandon efforts to stabilize the pound sterling.

A certain Jewish gentleman claimed that he had personally made over $1 billion in speculation against the British pound.

The speculator was the Hungarian-born George Soros, who reportedly has links to the Rothschilds, Mark Rich, and Rafi Eytan. (The Secret Financial Network Behind "Wizard" George Soros)

Soros allegedly "spent the war in Hungary under false papers working for the Nazi government, identifying and expropriating the property of wealthy fellow Jews." (The Secret Financial Network Behind "Wizard" George Soros)

George Soros reportedly played a part in undermining banks and currencies during the Asian financial crisis of 1997. (George Soros' role in the Asia Crisis of 1997)

In 1997, some people suspected there was a plot against Indonesia.

"Indonesia's banking sector was devastated by the crisis that began in October 1997.

"Of the largest banks - the seven original state banks and the ten largest formerly private banks - none managed to remain solvent...

"65 were closed, 9 merged, and 4 nationalized." - (Banking Collapse and Restructuring in Indonesia, 1997-2001)

Up to 1997, the fundamentals of the Indonesian economy looked sound.

But, the Asian economies had been urged by the West to liberalise and deregulate markets and allow in lots of European and Japanese money.

Huge sums of money did flow in.

Then speculators shouted ‘fire’.

And the money flowed out."

There was a suspicion that the money-men in New York and London were taking advantage of events and that a lot of banks and businesses in South East Asia would end up in American and British hands

Edingburgh, Scotland from Flickr p5070019

Is there a plot against Scotland?

Scotland's first minister, Alex Salmond, has attacked the "spivs and speculators" who have targeted Scottish-based bank HBOS. (Salmond attacks financial 'spivs')

Salmond told BBC Scotland that HBOS was soundly based.

He said that financial regulators should have acted to prevent the speculative attack.

HBOS is to merge with Lloyds TSB after its share price plummeted.

A union has warned the merger could be "catastrophic" for the 17,000 HBOS staff based in Scotland

Salmond said the financial regulators the Financial Services Authority left HBOS vulnerable to speculative attack by failing to act.

He said HBOS was properly funded and had a good capital ratio.

"I am very angry that we can have a situation where a bank can be forced into a merger by basically a bunch of short-selling spivs and speculators in the financial markets," he said.

"We should not have situations where well capitalised, properly funded financial institutions are subject to incredible speculative attack, and that drives them into decision making which they otherwise might not have done.

"You have got to put the hems on that sort of activity, otherwise we will have a succession of companies going through the same process. All financial regulators have got to wake up to where we are at the present moment."

Reportedly, Tom McKillop, Chairman, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, attended the 2008 Bilderberg meeting. (Cached)

What decisions might have been taken there about weakening Scotland and its SNP government?

Scott Reid, Deputy Business Editor of Glasgow's Herald newspaper (now American owned) reports that the chief executive and chairman of Lloyds Halifax will have the whip hand in the merged bank. (Scott Reid's blog: My part in HBOS's downfall)

Scotland will lose a major plc head office and lots of high street branches.

"Already Edinburgh, its business community, its band of lawyers, accountants and advisors will have been left reeling by the enormity of this week's events", writes Reid.

Reid mentions market murmurs of a possible HSBC/ Royal Bank of Scotland tie-up.

Reid comments: "the last person to leave Edinburgh: please turn off the light."

Iain Gray

Iain Gray (born 1957) is the new leader of the Scottish Labour Party.

Gray is Member of the Scottish Parliament for East Lothian.

Gray was educated at the exclusive private school called George Watson's College.

Some private schools are suspected of being recruiting grounds for members of the security services.

Gray is linked to the botched Scottish parliament elections in 2007, when thousands of ballots were discarded.

Gray was a special adviser in the Scotland Office in the run-up to the election.

A senior Labour figure was quoted by The Daily Record (Scottish Labour leader. ) as saying of Gray: "He must have advised then Scottish secretary Douglas Alexander about the election and things like the ballot paper but it ended up a total disaster.

"You've got to ask yourself whether someone so heavily involved in an almighty cock-up is the right person to lead Labour in Scotland."

According to The Scotsman, Gray wants Labour to ‘team up’ with the Conservatives to try and beat the SNP.

Dumfries is to get a third Tesco store, according to the Dumfries Courier 12 September 2008.

Nithsdale Councillors have given permission for the 6606 square metre store.

Loreburn Community Council claims the Tesco store will harm the town centre.

The town centre is already full of empty shops.

Dumfries is dead.

Dumfries R.I.P.

1. Tesco is the world's fourth largest retailer.

In 2006, Inverness, in the UK, was branded as "Tescotown", [12][13] because well over 50p in every £1 spent on food is believed to be spent in its three Tesco stores. [14]

2. Jack Cohen founded Tesco in 1909 when he began to sell surplus groceries from a stall in the East End of London. (Tesco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Shirley, Lady Porter DBE is the daughter and heir of Jack Cohen.

In a review of the biography of Mrs Porter by Andrew Hosken, Nicholas Lezard in The Guardian described her as "...the most corrupt British political figure in living memory, with the possible exception of Robert Maxwell". [1] She retired to Israel in 1993.

3. How fresh is Tesco food?

Audrey Brown, of BBC News, (BBC NEWS Business Out-of-date food in UK supermarkets) reported:

"I saw food past its sell-by date on the fresh food counters... and it was regularly being sold.

"At Tesco, it was re-packaged and re-labelled with a new date and reduced in price, sometimes days after it should have been sold or removed from the shelves.

"A lot of the time, the counter staff treated the meat and fish we were selling with indifference and, worryingly, there were times at Tesco when they had no idea what the real sell-by date was as they had altered it so many times.

"Sometimes it was not until the food smelled bad that it was eventually thrown away."

In a programme for BBC1's Whistleblower, "counter staff at... Tesco falsify food temperature records and flout basic rules of food hygiene such as using different knives for fish, raw meat and cooked meat to prevent cross-contamination of bacteria.

"Undercover footage shows the factory floor of a major supplier of ready meals to Tesco cross-contaminated with urine and faecal matter from employees' boots, and a farm which supplies chickens to Sainsbury's where a bin of dead birds crawling with hundreds of maggots is alongside the area for live birds being reared for sale." - TV film claims Tesco and Sainsbury's stores flout hygiene rules ...

3. According to The Guardian, 31 May 2008:

The magazine Private Eye (May 2008) "identified what it said was a Tesco tax avoidance operation involving a complex web of offshore operations centred on the Swiss canton of Zug.

"These arrangements involved an English limited liability partnership (LLP) called Cheshunt Overseas.

"Cheshunt is the name of the Hertfordshire town where Tesco has its headquarters.

"The Cheshunt Overseas accounts provide grounds for believing that the structure may so far have assisted the international retailer in sheltering more than £66m in profit from UK tax." (Tesco: new claims of tax avoidance)

4. According to Wikipedia (Tesco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia):

In May 2007 it was revealed that Tesco had moved the head office of its online operations to the tax haven of Switzerland.

In February 2008 a six month investigation by The Guardian revealed that Tesco has developed a complex taxation structure involving offshore bank accounts in the tax haven of the Cayman Islands.[31]

Tesco is in the process of selling its UK stores, worth an estimated £6 billion, to Cayman Island based companies set up by Tesco. These companies then lease the stores back to Tesco.

This arrangement enables Tesco to avoid an estimated £1 billion tax on profits from the property sales, and also to avoid paying any tax on continuing operation of the stores, as the rate of corporation tax in the Cayman Islands is zero.

5. In Thailand, Tesco has been criticised for aggressively pursuing critics of the company. Writer and former MP Jit Siratranont is facing up to two years in jail and a £16.4m libel damages claim for saying that Tesco was expanding aggressively at the expense of small local retailers.

Tesco served him with writs for criminal defamation and civil libel.[90]

6. Criticism of Tesco includes allegations of stifling competition due to its undeveloped "land bank",[91] pugilistically aggressive new store development without real consideration of the wishes, needs and consequences to local communities,[92] using cheap and/or child labour,[93][94] opposition to its move into the convenience sector[95] and breaching planning laws.[96]

7. It's time to close down the big supermarkets because they do more harm than good.

Walmart and Tesco are examples of big supermarkets.

"Wal-Mart may drive prices down, but it drags the quality of life for millions of people down with it.

"With hundreds of employees dependent on public assistance to meet their basic needs, American taxpayers subsidize Wal-Mart's low prices at the rate of roughly $420,750 a year for every 200-employee store by paying for low-income services...

"Wal-Mart hurts U.S. communities by undercutting local merchants and increasing urban sprawl, and its suppliers have been cited for labor and human rights violations."
- Responsible Shopper Profile: Wal-Mart:

8. "I've had a big notice in my shop window for a few weeks "the shop that Tesco cannot close" along with photos of the 50 empty shops in our town.

"There's a huge Tesco here, and the town centre is in a bad way.

"I think that small scale retail is just about dead ..." (Comment is free: Tesco the superweed)

Tesco is to open a third store in the town of Dumfries.

"Tesco would take about 60% of all money being spent in the town." Traders fear third Tesco's impact

9. In 2006, Felicity Lawrence wrote in the Guardian (Comment is free: Tesco the superweed):

"The trouble with weeds is that left unchecked they become invasive and strangle everything else. Tesco has spread uncontrolled with frightening speed. In some parts of the country it has 45% of the grocery market...

"Tesco... subverts the democratic process as it forces through planning permissions against community wishes; it added 2m sq ft of sales space last year alone...

"It suffocates independent shops and markets; it uses its power to squeeze its suppliers...

"The supermarket sector, with its just-in-time ordering that requires casual labour to be turned on and off like a tap, and its new packhouse industries, has been one of the most prolific creators of demand for trafficked labour."

10. "In Bangladesh young women are working for as little as 5p an hour to make clothes for Asda and Tesco while working up to 14 hours a day for weeks on end... Tesco reported annual profits of more than £2.5bn last week" - 6p a T-shirt. 30p an hour for shelling cashews. Supermarkets accused of exploiting women

Scotland - a thousand more hydro-electric sites may be built

Scotland has oil (at least half the oil is still to come) and it has wind and wave power.

And, more than 1000 new hydro-electric power stations may be built in Scotland in the next few years years according to Scottish Government advisers. ( Scotland may have a thousand more hydro sites)

Above Loch Ness, the £150m Glendoe hydro-electric scheme is nearing completion.

Scottish and Southern Energy's Glendoe project will be capable of generating 100mw of power, enough to power Glasgow.

Glendoe will be the second largest hydro scheme out of the 80 already in Scotland.

Most were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The Scottish Government aims to generate 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.
