Scotland - 3% of crimes result in convictions

How efficient is the Scottish Criminal Justice System? How corrupt is the Scottish Criminal Justice System?

According to the Mail on Sunday, 29 January 2006, only 3% of crimes in Scotland result in convictions.

The Scottish Crime Survey found that only 25% of crimes were reported to the police.

In 2003-2004 in Scotland, just over 1 million crimes were reported. It is estimated that the true number of crimes in Scotland in 2003-2004 was 4 million.

In 2003-2004 there were only 119,994 convictions.
